		<abstract>Due to the activities of the agriculture and livestock sectors, and also other ways to occupy the land, the Brazilian cerrado have been suffering a several degradation process. The state of Goiás, this fully inserted in this biome, has large areas deforested due to the development of these activities and new technologies. In the capital, Goiânia, this deforestation occurred due to the rapidly expanding urban area. In this context, seeking to maintain a balance between environmental and urban issues, the municipality of Goiania by his Master Plan (Act no. 171/2007) established criteria for defining its Permanent Preservation Areas (APP). The methodology raised the current environmental situation in the Goiânia, quantifying and qualifying the occupied areas, considering the macro-zoning of the municipality. As products of the project development based on images of high spatial resolution include: land use mapping, Permanent Preservation Areas mapping and cartographic data, to then outline the current scenario of the environmental passive of the municipality of Goiânia. The result show that the use of Geoprocessing technologies can help control and monitoring environmental and making decisions and allowing to order and to determine the potential environmental passive generator, in order to plan preventive actions to the arising of them in the municipality of Goiânia.</abstract>
